commissioned work

Have not been blogging for sometime.
anyway today i have something to share with everyone.
It is another cute frames that I had made for a commissioned work.

The customer requested to have the 'little girls' in the frame,
As such, I just started taking some papers and made this.
No title for the frame but love the banner, butterflies, the punch and the colours.
Especially the clouds with the blue distress, it just looks look a bright and sunny days.
don't you think so?

This is a close up of the frame, the 'dear lizzy' bicycle look perfectly well in that corner of the frame. with the little mushroom surrounding it.

This is the second frme with the little cute girls.

the little animals.

well here it is, looks like a little cozy little house with lots of cuteness in it.
Hope you enjoy viewing it!

CHA challenge at the Studio Calico

On the first day of the Lunar New Year I did my first Layout.
It was a Studio Calico design team members challenge.

One of the challenges states that I need to use quote as journal.
Another mentioned to create a similar style as one of the designers.
so here is my takes.

Using Elsie's rubon. I had been hoarding this for years and finally I get
a chance to use it. Luckily I still can rub on it. Many friends told me that
if I do not use your rub on for a few years it is considered spoilt.

This is the layout that I made lifting Laura's style. Big pictures and little
embellishment. I printed the picutures at home using glossy paper but
somehow the result doesn't look good.

The second layout challenge requires a self portrait pic.
So I stamped, I rubon, I cut and I paste.

I also punched, I misted....

And this is how it turned out. I was satisfield with how it looked.
The blue mist was by accident. I wanted to placed a few big drops on the LO
but I pressed too much and becomes a big blue patch. pretty huh?

Glad I took up this challenges as it is my first time to challenge myself using minimal pattern papers but techniques.

Happy Lunar New Year

Hi everyone,
Today is the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
How is the preparation going on?
I already had our family reunion dinner last Saturday so
most of us just relax at home watching TV.

As for MM, her school celebrated the event yesterday with performance and craft.
Her is MM getting ready for her lion dance.
Dress all in red and a little touch up by the teacher she looked so pretty.

As for me it is the begining of February, I am trying to do a little scrap for Studio Calico challenge. Can't wait to scrap a little today since it will be a long holiday this whole week.
Have an enjoyable Happy ho ho ho holiday!

Celebrate Life

Yesterday night, I got a little creative mood and started to make a mini album for a friend
which I promised to her sometime back.

this is the mess that I made while making it.

The album was mainly done during a crop lesson years ago in LSS.
We were having a Peranankan theme so even the album does have something related to it.
Papers are very oriential and chinese.

the second page, we were introduced to use some alcohol ink and adding metal embellishment

For the third page, using chipboard from Frontwek and a chinese coin.

I used a little Studio Calico- Mr Huey-white to spray on the background and adding a ribbon
and embellishment.

fourth page using tape, ribbon and chipboard.

The baby looked so cute, so I just used one of the Cosmo Cricket wording paper to decorate this simple page.

Recently I bought this bampop frame from the LSS at a discount.
Immediately I find this family photo goes well with this frame. Loving the detail from the frame.
Bright and beautiful.

It's my first time to placed just a large photo on the album.
normally I will print it to a smaller size but this time I decided to try something new
and I love it.

One of my favourite page from the album. The picture is well taken and Sassfrasslass banner
with American craft alpha make it so much cuter!
The last page of the album.

For this page, I used 7 gypsies gaffer tape, a chipboard and a diecut.

I got inspired by Celine's idea so I used a double side tape added some Zing
and tada I created a rainbow.

Hope my friend will like the album like I do and show it to her babies when they grow up.

a walk in chinatown

I met up with my friend J and she suggested we should take a walk at the Chinatown during the Chinese New Year period which might bring us some good luck.

So yesterday I brought my camera along ,took some pictures and shop around.
Each path is crowded with tourists and local. Lots of stalls sellig all sort of stuff.
New Year decoration, snacks, cakes, painting, drinks and also some interesting
non-related new year stuff.

tons and tons of people and red lanterns hanging across the shops.
Everywhere is so red and vibrant.

This is one of the common decoration that was seen in almost every stall.
'zhao cai' means attracting or getting wealth. I should get one to hang in my house.

The imported taiwan sweets. Some sell 100gram at a SGD1 or SGD1.50.
Very colourful and lots of varieties to pick from.

I need to get the Melon seed. This is one of my all time favourite snack during the new year.
Love eating this crunchy thinly slice taste like nuts.

spotted a few of these lion for sale in many stalls. Just so cute but there is no room for me to put this at home. Probably I can add this in my scrap page.

Hope you enjoy this pictures taken by Nikon camera and edit using picasa.

a baby album

January is a month full of challenge for me.
I decided to take up the task to make a baby album for my cousin.
It was pretty tough as I need to make a total of 20 layouts.
No idea what is the name of the child and no pictures in the intial stage.
So this is what I done using the American Craft baby value set.

I decided not to decorate the cover otherwise it might be a little bulky so simple will be good enough.

In no particular order, these are 4 of the layouts that I had made for the baby.
Love the 'Our family' layout, pink and blue are my favourite combination.

Another 6 layouts shown here. Other than American Craft prodcuts,
I also used October Afternoon paper, die cut and chipboard. I find it so diffcult
just using AC products, so with a bit of colours from the OA, I find the layouts
more lively and cute.

These layouts below are done much earlier in January. Using the grids as layouts and the
masking tapes. A mixture of pink and blue and it is my first time trying out grey as a base.
Hope my cousin doesn't mind the pink layout for boy.

The last 4 layouts with baby photos which was taken 2 weeks back when I visited the little baby.
I kept taking pictures that I forgot to ask about the baby name. In total 20 layouts, it made me smile while flipping through the pages. Hope my cousin will journal on each page about the process of the baby and show it to me with cute photos of the baby.

first birthday party

Yesterday was Kelly's birthday. MM and WW was invited to her 9th years old celebration.
It was mainly Kelly's classmates so MM did not get a chance to hang out with Kelly nor Emily.

Lovely MM dressed in pink hanging around the pool and picking flowers.
This is one of the presents that we gave to the birthday girl. The cover is decorated by MM.
Noticed the little rabbit? It was coloured using copic marker by MM.

beautiful handmade flower made by MM. The colours are picked by MM and folded by her.

Here is WW with another present wrapped with stamps and ribbon.

a sad story

It all started with this lovely pink shoes. Both WW and K love to wear it.
The unfortunate event happen today which K was wearing this shoes to school.
On the way , grandpa was cycling K who was seated in front of the bicycle.
She was swinging her legs to and fro and all of a sudden her legs got stuck . I still can't figure
out how that happen despite questioning K a few times.

Here is the badly injured leg. A little swollen with blue black around her legs.
Some parts of her skin was peel off. K told us that she can't walk.

Here is K talking to her mother emotionally. Tears started to flow down upon hearing
her mother's voice. She was groaning how painful her leg is and she can't walk.
I told her that we need to send her to a doctor, she refused and insisted that a plaster
is good enough for her. Hope she can recover before the Chinese New Year.
